New High School Round About Community Forum

03/13/06

Learn about Traffic Round Abouts Near the AAPS New High School Site

On Tuesday, March 21, at Forsythe Auditorium, at 7:00pm, Ann Arbor Public Schools will host a public information forum regarding the installation of round abouts at three locations on Maple Road near the new high school site. The forum will feature DLZ Michigan Inc. the consulting firm that has studied the feasibility of round abouts at this location. Traffic engineers from the Washtenaw County Road Commission, Michigan Department of Transportation and the City of Ann Arbor will also be available for comment

DLZ’s presentation will define the difference between traffic circles and round abouts. Round abouts are an increasingly common device used to maintain movement of vehicles while, at the same time, reducing speeds. DLZ will discuss the safety aspects of round abouts for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

If you have questions please contact the AAPS Bond Office at 997-1879.

21st Annual College & Career Fair

02/13/06

You may have already had some discussions with your son or daughter about post-high school education and career opportunities. If you haven't, it's not too early to begin. To assist you in this task, the Ann Arbor Public Schools have scheduled their 21st annual College & Career Fair at Pioneer High School on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. It is our goal to offer students the chance to explore both educational and career opportunities to plan for their future. Representatives from colleges all over the nation and businesses from the Ann Arbor area will be present to meet with you, answer your questions and provide you with pertinent literature. The colleges will have tables in the cafeteria, which is located near the clock-tower entrance to Pioneer High School, and the businesses will line the A-wing hallway outside of the cafeteria. This night will provide your family with up-to-date information and enable you to make a person-to-person contact with college and business representatives. We look forward to seeing you there.

This community has very knowledgeable individuals. We would like to hear your ideas of how this district can achieve real financial savings while continuing to provide the level of education this community has come to expect.

Please share your suggestions by emailing savingsideas@aaps.k12.mi.us. My staff and I will review every suggestion. Great ideas will be honored with a dinner certificate.

Thank you for your input. We value your suggestions.
