- Pioneer High School has 32 National Merit Semifinalists this year: Burgener, Joel; Chen, Zidi; Croos-Dabrera, Melanie; Duan, Grace; Guha, Anirvan; Hiller, Lydia; Huang, Tianyi; Isa, Mariyam; Jin, Zesi; Johnson, Spencer; Krishnan, Viknesh; Kriz, Daniel; Kulkarni, Tanay; Latterner, Leah; Le, Randall; Luo, Wenjie; Lyu, Jennifer; Mackie-Mason, Andrew; Nees, Daniel; Postema, Jacob; Puttagunta, Rahul; Qian, Elizabeth; Qiu, Victoria; Rajput, Salman; Stearns, Emily; Stevens, Luke; Sun, Eric; Topham, Emily; Twanmo, Erica; Wang, Diane; Wang, Xiao; and Wei, Wen-Ching.
- Pioneer also had 19 Commended students in the 2010 National Merit Program: Bogen, Julia; Foster, Sarah; Gleason, Maia; Gluck, Adam; Goldstein, Elizabeth; Gu, Stephanie; Hayes, Saunders; Huang, Stephanie; Johnson, Mark; Joyce, Jacob; Kakaraparthi, Naveen; McCoy, Katie; Murphey, Helen; Niemann, Katherine; Parikh, Neilesh; Postema, Teresa; Rombes, Nicholas; Walker, Steven and Whitaker, Reid.
- Two Pioneer seniors, Spencer Johnson and Jacob Postema, each received a perfect score, 36, on the ACT.
- Homebuilding teacher, John Birko reports that this year is a very special year for the Ann Arbor Student Building Industries Program. They are beginning the fortieth house in this their "40th" year. The students are working hard and are very focused on making this year and this home special.
Jason Watson. the 09" graduate who won the State SkillsUSA championship in Carpentry last Spring, went to the national SkillsUSA competition in June in Kansas City Missouri and placed fourth in the nation. Jason is now a freshman studying Construction Management at Ferris State University, The student built house project completed in June and exhibited in the Builders and Remodelers Association "Showcase of Homes" was sold for a full price offer. We are proud to continue to be able to sell our product in this difficult market and time.
