New Ann Arbor Public Schools Teachers

Ann Arbor Public Schools' Professional Growth and Development offers a variety of supports for teachers new to our district:

• The "Each One Teach One" Mentor Program for New Teachers provides a mentor teacher to new teachers for their first three years of teaching. Any teacher new to Ann Arbor, who has not previously had tenure in a Michigan District, will be assigned a mentor.
• A "New Teacher Orientation" is held every August. This orientation session provides information on curriculum, professional development, technology and other important aspects of teaching in Ann Arbor.
• An "AAPS New Teacher Handbook" is published each year, providing information and resources for teachers new to our district.
• Many workshops specifically designed for new teachers are offered each semester. These are listed along with the other workshop and professional development opportunities in the "Professional Development Opportunities Brochure" (published each semester).
• We have many books and videos which may be of interest to new teachers and can provide a bibliography of these upon request.
